When the client needs e-commerce before being ready to sell.
Originally published in Reino Studio on Medium. Sextante Publishing House had built one of Brazil's most respected catalogs over 20 years, but their digital infrastructure hadn't kept pace. They wanted operational autonomy, a modern site, and for the first time, a direct relationship with readers through e-commerce. The problem: the logistics to support D2C sales weren't ready.
This case documents how Reino designed and built a complete e-commerce platform, launched the site, and kept the store deliberately dormant, so Sextante could move now without waiting for infrastructure that didn't exist yet. Architecture as business strategy. Project led by Pedro A. Brêtas and Vinicius Malvão.
